Ghulam hails from Upper Dir, which is a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and he has been raised in that area. Like most young boys in Pakistan, Kamran was initially introduced to the game of cricket through the use of a tape ball on the streets. His interest in the game was seen from the early days, and he was soon out there starting to play for the young crickets in his community.

However, his journey began in the domestic circuits, where he faced the usual challenges of proving his worth among a pool of talented players. But he did not give up and in recent years he was able to be part of first-line domestic teams in Pakistan, specifically Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad United.

Early Life And Domestic Career

The beginning of the Kamran’s domestic cricket was marked with participation in Premier Tournaments in Pakistan. Moreover, he has played 64 First-Class matches in which he has scored 3,444 runs at a good average of 34. 44, of which seven are centuries, and seventeen are half-centuries. In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which is Pakistan’s domestic first-class competition, Fawad Alam has done quite well, scoring 2,334 runs at an average of 36.15, featuring 5 centuries and 12 half-centuries. 

International Career And Notable Performances

Ghulam was part of the national team since 2017 and has played a single T20I match against the West Indies. Single-handedly he contributed 31 runs of 47 balls which further illustrates his batting on an International level. In ODIs, has played 10 matches, and owns 151 runs at an average of 18. 87. His best bowling performance was a figure of 45 against Sri Lanka in the year 2019. In Tests, Ghulam has played 5 matches and made 246 routes at a normal of 30. 75. His biggest contribution of 73 came against Bangladesh in 2020.

Performance In Pakistan Super League 

The famous Pakistani athlete also has a lot of achievements in the T20 format of cricket, especially in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Kamran has represented Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United as a right-handed opening batsman, who can also play in the middle but has the ability to up the ante at the later stages of the innings. 

During the National T20 Cup in October 2021, Kamran for the first time, achieved the three-figure mark in T20 cricket where he remained unbeaten on 110 and proved that he can perform well in any format and under any condition. His matches played in the T20 format have been impressive and he has become an important player in the domestic T20 leagues in Pakistan.

First Chance In One Day International

The 28-year-old cricketer’s consistent performances in domestic cricket eventually paved the way for his entry into the international arena. He was first included in Pakistan’s Test squad for a tour of South Africa in the year 2021. 

While he did not play his first series of the format, his selection was a clear sign of intent from the selectors for him. He got his first chance at an ODI in January 2023 against New Zealand. Although the match was tough for the team, Kamran’s performance indicates the potential for an exciting international career.

Upcoming OSI Series Against Sri Lanka- 25 August 2025

Few of his innings in PSL have been quite crucial in matches in which he played for his teams. He performed well under pressure for Peshawar Zalmi and scored a century that positioned the team in the playoff list. This performance indicated that he would do well in the future if given another opportunity. As of now, he has been named in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to start on August 25, 2023.
